Assistant Manager Job Description
Title
- Assistant Store Manager
General Description
The Assistant Manager reports to and supports the Store Manager by ensuring all staff are providing exceptional customer service, meeting sales goals and maintaining systems. This role involves growing and developing the staff by both by training and by being a role model in sales, service and systems. Assistant store managers help to ensure the store is clean, well organized, inventory is managed and properly merchandised and that the staff is properly trained on sales and product information. It is the assistant’s responsibility to make sure all store policies, procedures, and controls are followed, as well as planning, organizing, and delegating work among staff.
- Full time position, minimum of 40 hours per week
- Mostly daytime hours, including some Saturdays and rare evenings
- Eligible for 1 week of paid personal time off per year after 6 months of successful employment
- Manage staff of 4 to 10 people
- Starting salary of $20,000 annually with the ability to earn up to $30,000 in the first year and room to grow after that!

Maintain systems to allow proper flow of day-to-day business operations by
- Upholding current standards for cleaning, scheduling, organization, inventory flow (including opening, receiving, and reordering inventory)
- Being available to fill in or arrange replacements for scheduling conflicts and emergencies as well as being “on call” for questions called in by staff
- Developing and implementing new standards as needed
Further explanation and other duties:
- Assistant will regularly use POS (Point of Sale) reports to analyze inventory, sales, busy times and other information
- Product knowledge includes what we carry, how products work, where and how products are made, what makes them special and the ability to explain this to staff and customers
- Inventory Management is a daily part of the job and includes knowing what is in stock, what is out of stock and needed, and placing orders/reorders.
- Customer service and staff management is an ability to connect genuinely with our customers and staff
- This position uses role playing to train and coach staff
Requirements
- Ability to demonstrate an above average knowledge of and passion for cooking, baking and entertaining and/or popular cooking methods, tools, equipment and techniques
- Ability to drive growth for the company in managing and coaching staff
- At least 1 year of sales experience or management experience
- Enjoy working hard and takes pride in excellence and achievement
- Comfortable with computers
- Willing to make a 3 year commitment
- Have a high school diploma
- Comfortable on a ladder and able to do some heavy lifting (50+ lbs) up and down stairs
